The Aviatore

Built for legibility, the way an instrument should be.

The Aviatore takes its cues from the cockpit dials of classic aircraft: a bold tachymeter scale, contrasting sub-dials, and hands that stay readable in low light. A 41mm chronograph on a suede leather strap — made for the days that start early and end somewhere you didn't plan.

Specifications

  • Case diameter: 41mm
  • Movement: Precision quartz chronograph
  • Strap: Genuine leather with a suede finish, 21mm width
  • Clasp: Hidden push-button deployment clasp
  • Dial: High-contrast indices with luminous hands
  • Water resistance: 3 Bar — splash and rain resistant
  • Functions: Date window and chronograph sub-dials

The Weekend Piece

Where a dress watch asks for a clean cuff, the Aviatore prefers rougher company — denim, tweed, a leather jacket that has been rained on more than once.

The suede strap is the part that will change. It darkens where it creases, it softens where you wear it, and in a year it will look like nobody else's. That is the point of leather, and it is the closest a watch gets to keeping a record of you.

How to Wear It

Casual layers, always. A waxed jacket. Heavy knitwear. A white t-shirt and jeans, and nothing else asking for attention.

The Design

Every line on the Aviatore exists to be read quickly. The dial is laid out the way a cockpit instrument is: three sub-dials arranged in a triangle, a tachymeter scale ringing the outside, markers thick enough to register in a glance rather than a look. The case is 41mm with two pushers flanking the crown. Legibility came first and decoration second, which is exactly why the shape has aged well.

On the Wrist

Forty-one millimetres reads as a full-sized watch without turning into a cuff — wide enough to keep the sub-dials legible, narrow enough to pass under a shirt sleeve. The strap is 21mm suede, matte where most straps are shiny, so the watch has presence without any gloss to it. It belongs with a rolled sleeve and a hand in a pocket more than with a boardroom.

The Detail

Three registers divide the dial: running seconds at nine, a sixty-minute counter at six, a twenty-four-hour scale at three, with the date tucked between four and five. Around the outside runs the tachymeter, a scale for reading speed over a measured mile — kept here because it frames the dial correctly, not because you are likely to use it. Hands and markers carry luminous fill, which is the part that earns its place at six in the morning.

Made to Last

Suede is the part that changes. It starts matte and even, then darkens where it folds over the wrist bone and lightens where the buckle sits, and inside a year it belongs to one person and to nobody else. The steel case underneath does the opposite and stays as it is. Rated 3ATM, which covers rain and a wet forearm. Not swimming.

The Movement

A precision quartz chronograph: the timing function is there when you want it and asks nothing of you when you do not. No winding to keep it alive between the days you remember to wear it, no drift to correct after a fortnight in a drawer. It is running the moment you pick it up, which is the only promise a watch like this needs to make.

The Finish

The case is finished in two registers — brushed across the top so it does not flare in daylight, polished along the flank and around the bezel so the profile still reads as steel. The crown and pushers are turned to match. Look at the chapter ring: the tachymeter is printed on a stepped, angled flange rather than flat on the dial, and that step is what gives the face its depth.

The Philosophy

True elegance doesn't shout — it whispers.

While the world chases the new and the loud, we stay with the enduring. Nothing on the dial that doesn't need to be there. Nothing on the case asking for attention it hasn't earned.

A watch should not simply tell time. It should be worth the time it keeps — the one you still reach for in five years, without thinking.
